What we do
The Contextual Outreach Team offer programmes of activity aimed at raising the aspirations and achievements of able students underrepresented in higher education.
Our two key schemes are the Thomas Transition Programme (TTP) for year 11 students and Reach for Excellence (RfE) for students in year 12 and 13. We also work together on a number of regional and national outreach partnerships to widen access to higher education.
All our projects are sustained outreach programmes and are designed to enhance students’ current and future studies through subject taster sessions and study skills sessions. In addition, students have the opportunity to attend workshops and information sessions in careers, finance and UCAS amongst others. Our workshops give students invaluable impartial guidance and advice when making the difficult decisions regarding what to study, where to study, how to finance their studies and how to make a good UCAS application.
Supporting young people who demonstrate the potential to access a selective university but who may not have considered entry to research intensive higher education is our fundamental aim.
The Contextual Outreach Team provides able young people with the practical knowledge and confidence to apply to research intensive universities such as The University of Leeds.
